Job Description
Flipper International School is seeking a qualified and experienced English Teacher to join its teaching team in Addis Ababa.The English Teacher will be responsible for delivering effective English language instruction, supporting student learning and engagement, managing classroom activities, and preparing students for academic assessments, including Cambridge examinations where applicable.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver effective English language and literature lessons.
- Teach English grammar, language, literature, and academic writing.
- Develop engaging learning activities and instructional materials.
- Assess and monitor student progress and learning outcomes.
- Prepare students for Cambridge examinations such as IGCSE, AS, or A Level where applicable.
- Apply effective classroom management techniques.
- Differentiate instruction according to students' abilities and learning needs.
- Encourage student participation and engagement.
- Use educational technology and digital learning resources where appropriate.
- Maintain effective communication with students, colleagues, and relevant stakeholders.
- Support the school's academic and extracurricular activities.
- Maintain appropriate records of student performance and progress.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in English, English Education, Education, Literature, or a related field.
- Recognized teaching qualification is preferred.
- Previous experience teaching the Cambridge curriculum is highly desirable.
- Experience preparing students for Cambridge examinations such as IGCSE, AS, or A Level is an advantage.
- Strong knowledge of English language, literature, grammar, and academic writing.
- Excellent spoken and written English.
- Good classroom management and student engagement skills.
- Ability to differentiate instruction for students with varying abilities.
- Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in educational technology and digital learning resources.
