Chief Accountant – Wela Agro Industry PLC

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and supervise accounting and finance operations.
• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
• Ensure compliance with Ethiopian accounting standards, tax laws, VAT, withholding tax, and statutory requirements.
• Manage general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and fixed assets.
• Develop and monitor annual budgets and cash flow forecasts.
• Prepare production cost reports and analyze manufacturing costs.
• Manage raw materials, work-in-process, and finished goods inventory accounting.
• Conduct monthly inventory reconciliation with production and warehouse teams.
• Coordinate month-end and year-end closing activities.
• Work closely with external auditors, banks, tax authorities, and government institutions.
• Establish and strengthen internal control systems.
• Review and approve payment vouchers, journal entries, and bank reconciliations.
• Monitor working capital and provide financial improvement recommendations.
• Prepare financial reports and management dashboards.
• Train, supervise, and evaluate finance department staff.
• Ensure proper implementation and utilization of ERP/accounting software.

Qualifications & Experience

Education

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related fields.
• Professional certification such as ACCA, CPA, CMA, or equivalent is an added advantage.

Experience

• Minimum 5 years of progressive accounting experience.
• At least 2 years of experience in a supervisory or Chief/Senior Accountant role.
• Experience in manufacturing or animal feed processing companies is highly preferred.

Required Skills

• Strong knowledge of IFRS and Ethiopian tax regulations.
• Excellent understanding of manufacturing cost accounting.
• Experience with ERP/accounting software.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
• Strong analytical, leadership, and problem-solving abilities.
• Excellent communication and report-writing skills.
• High level of integrity and attention to detail.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
