Job Description
Elmi Olindo Contractors PLC is inviting qualified and experienced applicants to apply for the position of IT / Network Engineer in Addis Ababa.
The successful candidate will be responsible for managing, maintaining, and securing the company's corporate and operational network infrastructure. The role involves network installation, server administration, hardware support, system security, and ensuring reliable connectivity across office and operational environments.
Key Responsibilities
1. Network Infrastructure and Administration
Design, configure, and maintain LAN, WAN, WLAN, routers, switches, firewalls, and VPN connections.
Ensure maximum network uptime and reliable connectivity.
2. Systems and Server Management
Administer Windows and Linux servers.
Manage Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, data backup systems, and cloud-hosted services.
3. Hardware and Technical Support
Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain desktop computers, laptops, printers, and peripheral devices.
Provide support for IP telephony (VoIP).
4. Cybersecurity and Access Control
Implement firewalls and network security policies.
Manage user permissions.
Ensure routine system patch management and antivirus updates.
5. System Diagnostics and Optimization
Monitor network performance and identify bottlenecks.
Conduct root-cause analysis of connectivity outages.
Optimize bandwidth usage.
6. Documentation and Asset Management
Maintain IT inventory records and network diagrams.
Document security protocols and system configurations.
Qualifications and Competency Standards
Educational Qualification
Bachelor’s Degree in one of the following fields:
Computer Science
Electrical and Computer Engineering
Information Technology
A related field
Work Experience
- Minimum of 2 years of hands-on experience in network engineering, systems administration, or IT infrastructure support.
Technical Skills
Router, switch, and firewall configuration, including Cisco, Mikrotik, Ubiquiti, Fortinet, and similar technologies.
TCP/IP routing, VLAN setup, VPNs, subnetting, and network diagnostics.
Active Directory, Windows Server, and Linux operating system administration.
Network cabling, including Cat6 and Fiber.
Patch panel management and rack setup.
Preferred Certifications
Having any of the following certifications is an advantage:
CCNA
CompTIA Network+
CompTIA Security+
MCSA
Soft Skills
Strong problem-solving ability.
Clear technical communication.
Effective user support skills.
