Job Description
The United Nations Office to the African Union (UNOAU) is seeking a Senior Programme Management Officer within its Integrated Operational Support Division (IOPS) in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. The position provides strategic and operational advice on programme and project design and implementation and supports effective management.
Responsibilities
- Provide strategic and operational advice on programme and project design and implementation.
- Lead the development, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of assigned programmes and projects.
- Identify priorities, problems, and issues and propose corrective actions.
- Ensure gender mainstreaming in planned actions, policies, and programmes.
- Direct research and programme evaluation and present information from diverse sources.
- Coordinate policy development and implementation and review assessments, evaluations, and studies.
- Supervise preparation of background papers, analyses, reports, studies, briefing notes, and talking points.
- Provide substantive support to consultative meetings and other events.
- Manage outreach activities and conduct training workshops and seminars.
- Provide guidance to external consultants, AU partners, and other stakeholders.
- Coordinate programme and project budget and funding activities.
- Establish partnerships with key officials within the United Nations and African Union and with other stakeholders.
- Supervise, guide, evaluate, and mentor staff.
- Lead data collection and analysis to support planning, decision-making, presentation, and reporting.
- Ensure that relevant stakeholders can access, integrate, and share required data.
- Perform other duties as required.

Qualifications & Requirements
- Advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in Business Administration, Management, Public Administration, or a related field.
- A first-level university degree combined with qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of an advanced degree.
- Successful completion of degree and non-degree programmes in data analytics, business analytics, or data science is desirable.
Experience
- Minimum 10 years of progressively responsible experience in project or programme management, administration, or a related field.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in a United Nations peacekeeping mission or comparable international organization.
- Minimum 5 years of experience managing and administering logistical, financial, and/or human resources within the UN system or similar international organization.
- Experience managing and supervising diverse teams.
- Experience in data analytics, business intelligence, or performance reporting is desirable.
- Experience liaising and coordinating with the African Union and its affiliated institutions is desirable.
